From The Herald 6th July 1901 :
Interesting Wedding. - The nuptials took place on Saturday last at St. Paul's Church, Alverthorpe, of Mr Albert Dearnley, of Chapelthorpe, and Miss Maud Wilson, third daughter of Mr Robert Wilson, Holly Villa, Balne Lane. There was a large gathering at the church, where the Vicar, the Rev G G Collins, officiated. Mr Cowburn presided at the organ, and contributed suitable wedding music whilst the guests were assembling, and also Mendelssohn's 'Wedding March' as the happy couple left the church at the close of the service. Amongst the members of the congregation were many of the bride's fellow-teachers in the Sunday School, where she has for some years past been a very valuable helper, and her loss will be very much felt in the parish. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dress of white alpaca trimmed with liberty silk and guipure lace. Mr Scott Taylor, of Huddersfield, acted as best man. The bridesmaids, Miss A Dearnley, Miss E Wilson and Miss M Crossley, wore white muslin dresses, trimmed with pink silk and lace. The bride carried a shower bouquet, and this, together with pretty bouquets of the bridesmaids, was supplied by Messrs. Twigge, of Wood Street. After the ceremony the guests assembled at the house of the bride's father, where the wedding breakfast was partaken of, and later in the day the bridal couple left for Colwyn bay, where the honeymoon is to be spent. The presents, numbering upwards of seventy, were very valuable, and included a silver hot-water jug, presented by the teachers at Alverthorpe Church Sunday School.
