Note:

Edwin Sandland was a very talented Wemyss ware artist, one of a handful of designers/artists responsible for the lovely Wemyss items we still see today. He was the last major artist employed by Fife Pottery (where Wemyss was made), and did some beautiful work including very distinctive dragonfly designs, and was (and still is) very highly thought of. Unfortunately in the late 1920s the demand for Wemyss started to decrease, as its heyday was really the Victorian and Edwardian era, and Edwin Sandland introduced Langtoun Ware and 'jazzy Wemyss' to try to revive its by then flagging fortunes.
