MR. S. F. MEIKLEJOHN.
A well-known master at Mount Albert Grammar School, Mr. Serjeant Frederick Meiklejohn, M.A., died on March 25 at the age of 27 years at his parents home, Andrew's Road, Henderson. The cause of death was pneumonia. He was an old pupil of the Auckland Grammar School and won a University scholarship in 1919. At the University College he gained the John Turline scholarship, a senior one, in English. He was at one time president of the Students Association, and proved an excellent debater. Mr. Meiklejohn graduated with Honours in English, and for over four years has been teaching at Mount Albert Grammar School. He took an active interest in sport, and had charge of the school hockey. In 1927 he acted as lecturer in English at the University College during the time Professor Egerton was away on leave. The death of Mr. Meiklejohn was referred to at the meeting of the Grammar School Board yesterday, and it was decided to forward a letter of sympathy to the parents. The chairman, Professor Thomas, remarked that Mr. Meiklejohn was a Very popular Master. Auckland Star, Vol. LXI, Issue 73, 27 March 1930.
