"He graduated from Penn Charter Academy in Philadelphia where he sang in the Glee Club and was on the wrestling team. While in college at Franklin and Marshall he was drafted into the army during WWII and served in the Signal Corp in the South Pacific. After the war he obtained his pilot’s license, managed a farm, worked as a manufacturer's rep, and graduated from Philadelphia College of Bible with an Associate’s degree.
Jim became director of Faith Mountain Mission in Kentucky from 1970-1986, and enjoyed running the associated summer camp for kids at Camp Lewis. One of his goals in life was to help boys grow into responsible men. Several nights a week he mentored boys at Christian Service Brigade and Stockade. His love for children and horses motivated him to establish a horsemanship program at Haycock Camping Ministries, a Christian camp for boys in Kintnersville, Pa. He spent hours riding and grooming horses, teaching leadership, mowing grass, fixing motors, cooking for large groups and doing anything else that needed to be done. His gracious kindness and the gift of being available to others endeared him to many, including his own family."
