James Darnley formerley of Lonaconing was fatally shot near Greensburg. Pa., Tuesday night. He and three companions -- his son and son-in-law and a man named Proctor -- were returning to their homes at Hempfiled Slope, about a mile from Greensburg, about midnight when three men appeared from behind an embankment and one of them opened fire with a revolver shooting Darnley in the groin. Darnley is 52 years of age and has a wife and several children. He is a native of Scotland. His father James Darnley, and his sister Mrs George Ternent, reside in Lonaconing. Both are now in Greensburg.
