Town Close House Prep School
Walter James Dearnaley was the owner/headmaster of Town Close House prep school in Norwich. I was at the school from 1956 to 1962 as a boarder and got to know him very well. He had no children. He was a great philanthropist. In 1960 he became my godfather, while I was at death's door in the Norfolk and Norwich hospital hospital. He left the school in trust and retired only a year or so before he died of cancer in Ipswich Road, Norwich, in late 1970. The school is still going.
