Note:

Joshua's origins are not known. However Meltham places him between Woodbottom and Austonley so he could have been a child of either of the families of these places.

On the whole Joshua doesn't seem to have been a popular Dearnley name at this time. The only other instance is that mentioned in Nicholas' 1721 will.

To my mind this makes it seem likely that these families are related. My working hypothesis is that the Joshua who married Grace is another unregistered son of Oliver. Meltham is just up the valley from Woodbottom.
