There is no proof that the eldest son of John 1708-1780 is the John who lived and died in Tintwistle but he is currently the most likely candidate. Tintwistle is just a few miles down the Longdendale valley from his probable birth-place at Woodhead and two of John's half-siblings also settled there. - JAD.
