"The occupant in 1866, John Howard, became well known in Holmfirth later in life as the landlord of the King's Head (more commonly called the White Door).  He was still at the Peacock in  1875, but records show his successor as Chas Brierley jnr, Dearnley Howard and Mrs Ann Boothroyd (1901).  The Peacock closed in 1907"
