James Dearnley
ID# 9864, b. April 1735, d. September 1821
Executor and residuary legatee of uncle William's will.
As William was a clothier this would include his loom & other equipment and any stock in trade. In effect he's being left the business.
This bequest to nephew James suggests that his standing in relation to the childless William is effectively that of adopted son of William & Martha.
That might explain why wife Martha seems to be getting only about a third of the money. At worst James would be on hand to look after her but I think it likely that William, Martha, James, his wife & children were living as an extended family and that would also explain why there's no mention of real estate in the will. - Ian Goddard
