Mary Schofield

ID# 11606, b. about 1810, d. about 1838
From 2 January 1832, her married name was Dearnley.
Note:

Ian Goddard notes:
I was looking for Mary Schofields & found two, one born in Ridings, the other, I think, Marsden. But the Marsden one has a father's occupation given as miner at the baptisms of her and her siblings. I then found a Parkgate Wood quarry near Marsden on the mid C19th map. Some distance away there's another Park with a Park Lane leading to it but in vernacular Park Lane could be Park Gate.

What gave me concern about Marsden as a location was the absence of coal pits there but I then realised that there was a canal tunnel (Google 'Standedge') being constructed at the relevant time which probably employed miners to cut it.

Workers in this line were apt to be peripatetic. They were also apt to be killed. If Jonathan [husband] was employed in this way it might explain why Firth [son] is lodging with relatives in the censuses.

Birth:
Mary Schofield was born about 1810
 .

Marriage:
Mary Schofield married Jonathan Dearnley, son of Jonas Dearnelley and Grace Taylor, on 2 January 1832 at All Hallows' Church, Almondbury, Yorkshire, England,

'Jonathan Dearnley of this Parish Bachelor and Mary Schofield of this Parish were married in this Church by Banns.'
'Jonn Dearnarley' signed & Mary made her mark.
Witnesses: James Worthead(?) & James Schofield

Indexed as Holme-Bridge in FamilySearch, but Holmbridge church was built 1839-40.

Residence:
in 1834 Mary Schofield lived at Park Gate, Yorkshire, England,
 .

Death:
Mary Schofield died about 1838

Probably died before 1841. Son Firth was living with relatives.
