Ian Goddard:
I'm working from the HDFHS transcripts. They give the burial date in '48 & the baptism on 08/11/1746 with no additional baptism. The burials and baptisms are in the same book. The fiche (and I think IGI work from the West Yorks. Archive Service's fiches) is very difficult to read. As per my previous email I couldn't make anything out of it. I suspect we're looking at three different transcripts of the same register entry of which two agree. Three because HDFHS will have looked at it as part of both the baptismal and burial transcriptions. I think the only definitive answer would come from checking the original at Wakefield. However, given that HDFHS have read it the same way twice, that it seems to correspond to the earlier baptism and that there is a further baptism, James, later in the same year, I'm inclined to believe there's just a burial.

Deeds to property in the Graveship of Holme

Deeds relating to property, both freehold and copyhold, at Ellintreehead in the Graveship of Holme - ref. SpSt/64710 - date: 1765-1831
This was sold by George Castle of Bridge, in 1734, to James Dearneley of Long Ing in the Parish of Kirkburton, clothier. By his will (proved 27 Jun, 1743) Dearnely left to his wife Martha his messuage at Upper Thong called Wickens and to his son William the estate at Ellentreehead (subject to another son Samuel enjoying the rents of part for 12 years).

Note:

We are assuming an earlier marriage for William, as wife Ann is not mentioned in the children's baptismal records until 1765.
This may be incorrect & Ann may be the mother of all the children.

Originally, we had this marriage to Fanny. This was from an incorrect burial entry ('Fanny Wife of Wm Dearnelly of Woodall'), which was corrected in a second 1758 burial document.

Some of this group of houses go back to the C18th at least, perhaps parts of them may even go back to the C17th, although in one case the facade seems to have been altered in Victorian times or later.
Whether any of the various Townend Dearnleys lived in any of them is unknown, but they would certainly have been familiar with the buildings.
