There are a variety of spellings shown in the Registers of the Parish Church of Grinton in Swaledale (Darnaly, Darnaley, Darneley, Darnill and Darnily), so there is room for some doubt with this family.

The dates of ths family are extrapolated from a known 'living' descendant in 1591 (see below).
The "circa dates" are a little later than some other online sources. I am basing this on the date of proof of the will of Joan Todd (wife of William Seyliard). It seems to me that she is more likely to have died aged 87 than at 97.

re: 'John Dernelly of Dernelly in Derbyshire' & subsequent family p.o.b.s

John Dernelly of Dernelly in Derbyshire (c.1451-) has bothered me ever since first reading. I can only come up with two explanations.
Either it is a mis-transcription for somewhere else in Derbyshire, or (and I think perhaps this is more likely) the people who submitted the pedigree knew that the family had originally been the Dearnleys of Dearnley (Dernellys of Dernelly) but also knew that the family came from Derbyshire. The two got conflated so that the ancestors were recorded as Dernellys of Dernelly in Derbyshire. This explanation could place this London branch in the same family tree as the Glossop branch (see John Dernylye), with a possible common ancestor of John I (c.1450). -JAD.
