GRAMMAR SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS.
RESULTS OF EXAMINATIONS
The annual examination of candidates for Grammar School scholarships in this colony took place on the 18th and 19th of December last, when 150 boys and eighty-four girls came up for examination. The candidates eligible for these examinations are children from schools under State inspection, who have not attained the age of 14 years.
The examination was held at the various local centres, under the supervision of responsible officers of the department, or other specially selected persons. The arrangements for the year provide that the scholarships shall not exceed 128 in number, ninety-six being available for boys and thirty-two for girls. The scholarships are tenable, during good behaviour and pleasure of Parliament, for a period of three years. Scholarships have been awarded to eighty-eight boys and thirty-one girls. The following is a list of the names of the successful candidates, together with the primary schools which they attended and the grammar schools to which they have been allotted :
