Unknown Dearnaley
ID# 816, b. about 1720
DNA test comparisons between a direct descendant of John Derneley (c.1699-1742, Bredbury area) and a direct descendant of "Unknown" Dearnaley (c.1720-) of Mottram-in-Longdendale show zero matches.
A lot more data is required before any conclusions can be made. (With so many generations involved, the wrong side of the blanket syndrome cannot be ignored !)

Unfortunately, the parent's names are currently unknown. Sons John & Amos both named their first-born sons John - a clue perhaps?
There is a John D with a possible Mottram connection who may have had more children than we currently have listed.
see John Dearneley
One problem is that Amos's brother Joseph only listed four siblings in his 1809 will.
Staley ancestors?
Evidence from the Mottram BMDs indicates that there may have been a Dearnaley family based in Staley since the mid-seventeenth century. Unfortunately, there is currently insufficient evidence to link all the different generations together. The table below shows the individuals who are listed with abode Staley in the Mottram parish records.
Five generations of a Stayley family?
Blackshaw Ancestors (?)
An Oliver Dearnlie (c.1535-) raised a family in the Blackshawe area of Glossop.
Padfield Ancestors (?)
On 22 Dec 1630 a William Derneley of Padfield married Marie Redditch. They had a son John christened on 14 Dec 1632. These are at least distant relatives, if not in fact ancestors. According to Dr. Colin Rogers, a leading British Genealogist (whose wife is a Dearnaley), stated, "The [Dearnaley] family had originally come to the Glossop area in the late fifteenth century from Dearnley, a place in the parish of Rochdale, where we have found them living as early as 1292."
Glossop Ancestors (?)
Close to our ancestor's time period, a Samuel Dearneley of Glossop married Ann Neild on 5 Mar 1727. Was he Amos' grandfather? He must have been a relative of some sort. Unfortunately, marriage records for St. Michaels and All Angels are missing from 1755-1775.

(?) Heaward
ID# 817, b. about 1727
Probably Thomas
Mary daughter of Thomas Heaward & Ann. chr. 11 Jan 1756
Thomas Heaward married Ann Shaw in Mottram on 6 Mar 1753
There was a very high concentration of Mary Heawards in Mottram-In-Longdendale, Cheshire and thus the names of our Mary's parents presently remain unknown. The Heaward surname goes back to at least 29 Nov 1593 in Mottram-In-Longdendale when John Heaward was christened there.
Unfortunately, marriage records for St. Michaels and All Angels are missing from 1755-1775.
Regarding the elligible age for marriage, in 1753 the Hardwicke Marriage Act was passed. The minimum age for a girl was twelve and for a boy fourteen.
In 1606, the manor of Glossop was acquired by the Howard family, whose head is the Duke of Norfolk, the Earl Marshal and the premier peer of England, who also carries the title Lord Howard of Glossop. The first two centuries of their ownership saw the Dukes taking more out of Glossop than they put in, but the twelfth Duke began the development of New Glossop, also known as Howard Town, by constructing a new Town Hall in 1838 and the thirteenth Duke not only built a Market Hall and a railway station but also brought piped water to the town in 1852.
